Naktuinbouw is hosting the Technical Working Party for Ornamental Plants and Forest Trees (TWO) online from 7 to 11 June. Last year the working group was supposed to be a guest at Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen. This was canceled due to corona.
The UPOV-TWO is an international working group of experts in DUS testing of ornamental crops. Any UPOV country can participate in the working group. UPOV is the worldwide organization for the promotion of Plant Breeders' Rights. More than 70 countries are participating.
Ashley Balchin from Canada is the chairman. She took over from our Dutch colleague Henk de Greef, who is retired now. Marien Valstar opens the meeting, he is chairman of both the UPOV Council and the board of the CPVO (Community Plant Variety Office). Bert Scholte - head of Variety Testing Department - and DUS researchers Katie Pont and Marco Hoffman are present from Naktuinbouw. Naktuinbouw uses videos to show the participants how we conduct the DUS tests in ornamental crops in the Netherlands.
Part of the working group is to discuss proposals for adjustments to the technical guidelines. Naktuinbouw is a leading expert for the Amaryllis and Statice crops.
