ISO 9001 certification

The annual audit for ISO 9001 certification was performed in April. The auditors' final conclusion was clear: confidence in the proper functioning of the quality management system at Naktuinbouw.

The auditors assessed teams who perform the primary processes and the support teams. This is a wide scope and involved the auditors holding group interviews to gain a deeper understanding of the correlation between the teams and the processes. A specific mention by the auditors in relation to continuous improvement referred to the good implementation of the reporting system, and that employees actively use the system.

Accreditation Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA)

The annual audit by the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) of the laboratory and phytosanitary import inspections was held in April. Accreditation continued status was granted for both accreditations.

Extension of accreditations

EN-EN-ISO 17020:2012

From November 2023 our inspectors will also perform the visual inspections during the company inspections under accreditation. This accreditation formally recognises and demonstrates that we operate in compliance with the established standards and criteria.

DIN-EN-ISO 17025:2017

In the autumn, the application for the extension for testing ‘Leaf material of Rhododendron sp.  Viburnum sp and other arboricultural crops' was assessed. Accreditation was granted on 17 January 2024.

Dispensation Naktuinbouw Laboratories

Naktuinbouw laboratories test propagating material for harmful viruses, fungi, bacteria, nematodes or other organisms. We are not allowed to perform diagnostic and quarantine organisms (Qs) tests without a permit.

In 2023, Naktuinbouw was granted three dispensations.

  1. With the 'Contained use' dispensation we are allowed to examine risk-bearing material (quarantine-worthy organisms) in contained areas in our laboratories.
  2. The dispensation ‘Destructive testing import and trade’, permits the laboratory to receive and test samples from third countries.
  3. Using the so-called PEQ III dispensation enables Naktuinbouw to receive fruit crops from third countries and release them for the European market. This covers receiving the crops and extensive testing in Roelofarendsveen. The material is then sent to the centre in Horst for processing, planting and release.
