To increase the efficiency of DUS testing for Plant Breeders' Rights and the listing of new varieties, a database containing more than 2500 photos, 1500 official variety descriptions and 3300 work descriptions of varieties (including duplicates) is now available.
Joint EU project
Naktuinbouw headed this project, during which melon specialists from Spain, Portugal, Slovakia and France put together the melon database containing varietal traits and photographs. The project took from 2018 until 2021 to complete and was funded by the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO).
Find similar varieties faster and better
The information in this database will increase the efficiency of DUS testing for Plant Breeders' Rights and the listing of new varieties. For example, searching for similar varieties in the case of new applications is an easier process, and more varieties have been described for this purpose.
The database is not public. Access is limited to Naktuinbouw and the other EU partners in the project.
