Making material virus-free
The team at the Test Centre in Horst make woody plants such as apple, pear, strawberry, raspberry and rose, as well as ornamental trees, virus-free using heat treatment. The tops of treated plants are grafted onto virus-free rootstock or cuttings are produced. A range of tests is then performed to confirm the virus-free status of the grafted tops.
Bioassays
We can detect any viruses that may be present by means of sap inoculations on herbaceous indicators.
