Temporary suspension of PEQ activities

Publicationdate: 24 maart 2026

Naktuinbouw will temporarily stop its Post Entry Quarantine (PEQ) activities. The NVWA has indicated that our PEQ facility in Horst will be suspended as of April 2026, because it no longer meets the required technical standards.

To maintain or extend the accreditation, a substantial investment is needed. At this moment, that is not a responsible choice, as the activities at the Horst Testing Centre may be transferred to an external organisation or possibly relocated to Roelofarendsveen. In addition, the business outlook is unfavourable, since the revenue from PEQ is very limited compared with the required investment.

In the coming months, Naktuinbouw will conduct an extensive sector consultation to better understand and assess the importance of this facility. If you would like to contribute or have ideas, please feel free to contact us.

From March 2026 onwards, we will no longer be able to accept new PEQ assignments. Ongoing examinations may continue, in consultation with the NVWA, possibly until the end of 2026.
