About the test
The methods used to test seed and propagating material for bacterial diseases and phytoplasms include: plating, pathogenicity testing, immunofluorescence (IF) and PCR.
If you do not know which type of test you require, consult the list of tests that can be performed by Naktuinbouw here.
Requirements for submission
General instructions when submitting samples:
- Pack the material in plastic.
- Dispatch the sample in a sturdy box. Attach the submission form to the outside of the box.
- Seed samples submitted for moisture content determination should be submitted in moisture-tight packaging.
- If your test sample is labelled URGENT, it will be treated as such and tested as quickly as possible. A special fee for urgent testing will be charged (see list of fees).
As well as the general instructions, other instructions may apply depending on the nature of the material submitted.
- For Naktuinbouw attests always send in at least twice the required amount of seed. This will avoid delays if a repeat rest has to be carried out.
- For this reason, preferably always submit untreated seed samples. Seed treatments can affect the reliability of the health test results.
- Always state if the seed has been disinfected on the submission form.
Submitting leaf and stem material:
- We prefer to receive your submitted material prior to the test week, Wednesday at the latest.
- Please do not dispatch material on Fridays because of the weekend.
- For Poty virus tests always send in at least twice the required amount of material.

The duration of the test depends on the type of test and the crop concerned. If the test was requested via myNaktuinbouw, the results can also be found in myNaktuinbouw. In myNaktuinbouw you can indicate if you wish to receive the results by post.
