Two new seed-extract PCR tests for cabbage and radish

News publication date: 22 January 2020

Our laboratory offers a new seed-extract real-time PCR (SE-PCR) for cabbage and radish. The SE-PCR is a rapid method for identifying DNA material. We perform this molecular pre-screening method on untreated seeds.

Kortere doorlooptijd met real-time PCR

The new test detects Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris (XCC), Xanthomonas campestris pv. raphani (XCR) and Pseudomonas syringae pv. macilucola (PSM). The tests can be requested individually (XCC/XCR or PSM) or as a combined test (XCC/XCR/PSM).

With the seed-extract PCR we can detect DNA from the bacterium in question. This is not definitive proof that a living pathogen is present. It is then recommendable to perform an additional dilution plating test. New seeds should be submitted for this dilution plating test.

  • Sample: 30,000 untreated seeds; other multiples of 10,000 seeds on request only.
  • Fees:*
    • individual test € 392.40
    • combined test XCC/XCR/PSM: € 454.20
  • Duration of the test: 3 days

*These are the test fees. For the (new) standard fees, please refer to the price list 2020.
