Naktuinbouw Elite®
Propagators and producers of propagating material of course like to be rewarded for all the extra care and attention they pay to their products. That's why Naktuinbouw introduced its added-value-systems for distinguishing products with added quality and top-quality products.
Planting material that complies with the stringent requirements of these systems, which Naktuinbouw laid down together with practice, may be traded with a special Naktuinbouw quality mark and/or certificate. Naktuinbouw has developed two systems for this purpose: Naktuinbouw Elite® (for tested propagating material produced in a pyramid propagation) and Naktuinbouw Select Plant® (for batches of propagating material of extra quality).

In addition to the external quality, the internal quality and health of the propagating material are also closely monitored. The requirements employed for quality marks in these fields are more stringent than those employed in the standard inspections.

Laboratory tests usually have to be performed to find out whether a product complies with all the criteria. In assessing material for certification, much attention is paid to varietal purity, trueness-to-variety, origin, health (absence of viruses, fungi, bacteria and nematodes) and internal and external quality.

Producers who wish to sell their planting material as Naktuinbouw Elite® products must moreover propagate that material according to a prescribed (staged) pyramid system.

On the part of the producers, the Naktuinbouw Elite® and Naktuinbouw Select Plant® quality marks are proof of the products' higher quality. The certificates or quality marks are sometimes issued for entire batches and at other times for individual plants.
